Meet Boston Executive Update

What has Meet Boston been up to?

The countdown is on! We are just two weeks away from Boston’s first World Cup match between Scotland and Haiti on June 13. This week we unveiled our Welcome World campaign - check out our fun anthem video. As a reminder, if you are hosting World Cup events, please share them with us and let us know if you are supporting any specific fan base, so that we can promote on our landing page.

Last week we hosted the DNC for a site visit as Boston is one of 5 finalists to host the event in 2028. The itinerary was outstanding and Boston truly shined. Big shoutout to our partners at TD Garden, Boston Public Library, Fenway Park, View Boston and the MCCA for creating a captivating experience for the host committee. We are hopeful that we will be awarded the convention for the first time since 2004.

While I was in Boston with the DNC, the team was on the road at IPW and IMEX. As always, our booths were very popular with engaging activations and a steady schedule of meetings and appointments. At IPW we were joined by 8 partners and hosted nearly 200 appointments, with an additional 175 guests joining for our famous lobster roll event.  At IMEX we were joined by 6 partners and hosted over 200 appointments.

Meet Boston is proud to recognize that May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. We have partnered with some exceptional organizations recently to celebrate the great diversity of our destination and industry. We were also the presenting sponsor of Get Konnected!’s inaugural “50 Most Influential People of Color in Hospitality & Tourism.” Many of our friends were recognized on the list, including some of Meet Boston’s great culinary partners such as Lisa Flores and Brian Moy, as well as our own Michael Munn, who along with our Vice Chair Darryl Settles received a Lifetime Achievement Award. We were thrilled to celebrate them.  We were also so happy to work with Black Owned Bos. on the creation of their first ever city guide to Boston. It’s a wonderful publication, available in both print and digital versions, and we will continue to support and amplify these efforts.

Earlier this month I participated in jetBlue’s inaugural ceremonies for the launch of their new Boston-Milan flight. This is jetBlue’s second new route of the spring, following the Barcelona launch in April, and we are excited to see how successful their transatlantic expansion continues to be.

Please tune into our Boston Found podcast. May episodes featured conversations with Herby Duverne and City Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune about World Cup and the significance for Boston’s Haitian community, as well as a great discussion on Sail Boston with Dusty Rhodes and Jeff Draeger. I was honored to be in the company of both Herby and Dusty this week at Boston magazine’s "150 Most Influential Bostonians" event.

Looking forward to seeing many of you next week at our annual Golf Tournament. And if you haven’t done so yet, please RSVP to our June Open House taking place at Smith & Wollensky on June 10.
