Meet Boston Executive Update

What has Meet Boston been up to?

Good afternoon,

Welcome to the first Executive Update of 2026, a year of great anticipation. With World Cup, Tall Ships, and the nation’s semiquincentennial all on the immediate horizon, Meet Boston is excited to see what this dynamic year delivers and how our agency can position the destination to shine on a global stage.

The December draw for World Cup matches was exhilarating. Not only will we be hosting games from some of our top overseas markets – including England, France, and Scotland – we are also thrilled to have countries like Haiti, with such a rich Boston diaspora, playing a match here. Yesterday I participated on a BBJ panel all about World Cup with leaders from Massport, FIFA Boston 26, and the hotel community. The excitement for the upcoming matches is so palpable.

While we are all eagerly awaiting the summer events, the year has already kicked off with a bang for Meet Boston. The inaugural Boston Frostival takes center stage this February with the Frostival Lodge furnished by Wayfair opening February 6 at Copley Square and the Frostival Ferris Wheel on the Greenway operating throughout the entire month. These activations represent our dedicated effort to program winter with new activities that drive more overnight visitation.

Dine Out Boston is set to return February 22-March 7. With over 150 partners already signed up (including several Michelin-recognized restaurants) we are trending towards another record-breaking edition of our biannual culinary program. Please sign up as soon as possible to generate maximum awareness for your menus and participation.

The 2026 travel schedule has already been quite busy for Meet Boston. The year kicked off with PCMA in Philadelphia, where over 4,200 event professionals convened. Meet Boston collaborated with Signature Boston on a fun and engaging AI activation where attendees could create a self-portrait set against an iconic Boston backdrop. This week our services team is attending ESPA in Arlington, TX. ESPA is the premier professional development association for event service managers. We are excited to host the conference in Boston next year.

I’m just back from Bengaluru, India, where a few members of the Meet Boston team attended Brand USA Travel Week India. The program was very informative. With the Indian market now a top 3 overseas market for Boston, injecting some $175M into the visitor economy, it is a critical segment for us to engage and grow market share from. Next week we will conduct our 7th international sales and media mission, this time to Germany and Switzerland.

We’ve just launched season 3 of the Boston Found podcast, with episode 1 all about Frostival and our efforts to reimagine winter in Boston. Upcoming episodes will feature Dr. Noelle Trent, Executive Director of the Museum of African American History, and Brian Bilello, Chair of the Boston FIFA 26 Board.

As for other upcoming events, we hope to see you at our Open House at Eataly on February 4. The following day, I’m excited to participate in the USS Constitution Museum’s Leadership Forum, where I will moderate a conversation with Charlie Baker.

As you dig out from the snow, please know that the Meet Boston team has been working extremely hard, for years, to ensure that this signature year achieves all that we’ve imagined it can. Welcome to 2026 and Go Patriots!
