Meet Boston Executive Update

What has Meet Boston been up to?

Good afternoon,

November was full of big events and exciting news for Meet Boston. I started the month in London, where Meet Boston sponsored the British Guild of Travel Writers Awards Dinner on November 3 along with our friends from Philadelphia and Charleston. We put on a 250th-themed affair, which was a big hit with the UK writers. We then hosted a trade and media program in London at Craven Cottage, home of Fulham FC. Thank you to our partners from FIFA Boston, Seaport, and the Museum of African American History for joining us on the mission and making it such a big success.

We also had some esteemed local chefs with us in London – Jody Adams and Jamie Bissonnette. We always bring chefs with us on our international missions, but having Chef Jody and Chef Jamie was particularly relevant as it was on the eve of the highly anticipated Michelin announcement. We were so proud to have them join us, and it was very exciting that both were then recognized in the inaugural Michelin guide for Boston. A few of us were in Philadelphia for the Northeast Ceremony on November 18 and it was very inspiring to see the energy on display as 26 Greater Boston restaurants learned that they would be included in the guide. And this is just the beginning. We strongly believe, and have case studies to corroborate, that Boston will see a jump in both recognitions and stars when the next ceremony occurs a year from now.

Michelin was just one part of a very active and newsworthy month for Meet Boston. We recently announced Boston Frostival, which will become our signature winter event as we look to generate more overnight visits in the first quarter. The fun kicks off this upcoming weekend with drone shows over Boston Common, and will continue into 2026 with winter chalets, wine festivals, a Ferris Wheel, and more.

At the Boston Globe summit last week I announced the formation of the Greater Boston Sports Commission as part of a panel I was on with Globe Sports Editor Matt Pepin. The Sports Commission will greatly enhance our capacity to pursue and secure major sporting events.

Our Sales team is just back from IBTM World in Barcelona, the premier international conference for business industry events. We had 6 partners join us at the show and held 178 appointments over 3 days as we showcased why Boston and Cambridge is an unparalleled destination for hosting meetings and events.

We look forward to sharing additional information about Frostival, Michelin and more at our Annual Meeting on December 2. We hope to see you there!

Finally, on behalf of Meet Boston, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your valued partnership. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful and joyous Thanksgiving holiday!
